The Bay Springs mayor, aldermen, city clerk, city attorney and other city officials met on Tuesday, June 15 at the Bay Springs City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor J.E. Smith and the invocation was given by Jimmy Nix of Ward 4.

Personal appearances before the group were made by James Buckley and Brian Hamilton. James Buckley appeared on behalf of his son to have decaying trees cut in front of his home. It was agreed that the trees needed to be cut to prevent damage to the road.

Others topics discussed at the meeting include but are not limited to:

• White Forestry Lease Agreement will expire at the end of this month. It will be renewed.

• Mid Continent Express Pipeline has reported that they will be finished and out of the area by the end of the month. The city will bill Mid Continent Express for clean up. Upon payment, they will be released from their lease.

• A new order will be drafted for trucks parking in the old Neco parking lot. The continued parking of trucks destroys the asphalt which the city has to replace. The new order will be presented at next meeting with exact locations of allowed parking, what types of trucks are allowed to park, and fines.

• After review by City Attorney Sonny Houston, the city agreed to sign a three year contract with Mississippi Delta Shows, LLC to provide carnival rides for Bay Fest. If Bay Fest is not held during the next three years, the city will not be penalized.

• It was agreed to raise the price of food vendors at Bay Fest from three hundred dollars to four hundred dollars. It was also agreed that the food vendors would be allowed to set up on Thursday evening as well.

• The city will review costs, maintenance, and other issues related to replacing street signs at the next meeting.

The board entered executive session at approximately 8:15 p.m. and closed the meeting to the public and media.
