The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Mississippi Highway Patrol would like to announce the promotion of Raymond Delk from captain to major.

A 26 year veteran of the highway patrol, Major Delk is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in criminal justice. He graduated the MHP’s cadet school in 1983 in trooper class #42.

Major Delk has worked in the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation since 1995 when he was promoted to master sergeant in the Meridian district. In fact, Major Delk went on to lead the central district of the MBI before being promoted to deputy director in November.

Major Delk says his goals as deputy director haven’t changed from what they were when he first patrolled the state’s roads and highways out of trooper school.

“It’s an honor for me to be promoted to deputy director of the MBI. I have worked in MBI for over 14 years. I hope to continue making this organization one of the best as we investigate crimes across this state to make Mississippi a safer place to live,” said Delk.

Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Sisk heads up the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Sisk says Delk is an easy going, likeable person, but what makes him stand out is his dedication to crime investigation.

“To Major Delk, this is not just a job but a career. In the 14 years he has worked with MBI, he has been an intrical part in solving many high profile cases in the state. I have great confidence in his abilities as deputy director of MBI,” said Lieutenant Colonel Sisk.

Major Raymond Delk’s hometown is Bay Springs.
