The residents of this area once again have the opportunity to join together in prayer on Thursday, May 7 at 6:45 a.m. at City Hall for the National Day of Prayer Breakfast. This is the twelfth year for this event.

The theme for this year’s event is “Prayer ... America’s Hope!” At this time of economic downturn, terrorist threats and relentless assaults upon foundational biblical principles, we have assurance that we have a God who repeatedly has shown Himself “mighty to save.”

Dr. John Mayfield, a veterinarian from Hattiesburg, will be the speaker for this event. Dr. Mayfield is a Taylorsville native. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Temple Baptist Church. Dr. Mayfield has a unique message of how a religious person who grew up in a church found Christ at the age of 33.

Shelly Overby of White Oak will be the featured vocalist. She is a member of White Oak Baptist Church, a teacher at East Rankin and is a former Mrs. Mississippi.

For tickets or information, call Ray Robinson at 601-764-3177 or 601-764-4595. Tickets are $5. Breakfast will be served beginning at 6:30 a.m.
