The Stringer Red Devil baseball team improved their record to 13-2 overall and 10-0 in division play here Wednesday night with a 10-4 victory over St. Aloysius. The victory puts the Devils in sole possession of first place in their division with two games left. St. Aloysius struck quickly in the contest by scoring in the first inning with a 3-run homer by Sean Weaver. In the bottom of the first inning the Devils would close the gap as Darius Beavers blasted a 2-run homer to make the score 3-2 St. Al after the first inning. The score would stay 3-2 until the third inning, when Stringer scored six runs in the frame. Weston Stringer walked, Darius Beavers then beat out an infield hit and Derek Bynum singled to left field to load the bases. Andrew Pierce, a Jones Junior College signee, then belted a grand slam over the centerfield wall to give the Devils a 6-3 advantage at that point.

The Devils scored two more runs in the inning to make the score 8-3 after three innings of play. Pierce blasted another home run in the fourth inning, this time a 2-run shot over the centerfield wall to allow Stringer to take command of the game, 10-3. Ryno Martinez of St. Al hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to make the final 10-4. Beavers had a home run and a single and Pierce had two home runs and six RBIs to lead Stringer at the plate. Bynum was the winning pitcher for Stringer, as he hurled five innings, giving up four hits and three runs. Pierce pitched the final two innings in relief, giving up one hit and one run for the Devils. Stringer will return to action April 3 at St. Al, host Heidelberg Academy April 4 at home and entertain Sebastopol April 6.
