Aldermen speak with engineer about waster water grant loan

The Bay Springs Mayor and Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, July 20, at the Bay Springs City Hall. The meeting began with an invocation given by Alderman Donny Jones, Ward 4.

Greg Gearhart of WGK Engineers, Clinton, MS spoke to the board about a wastewater grant loan program the city is eligible to apply for. This grant is targeted at small communities for wastewater improvements. Much discussion was held about the criteria for applying, benefits to the city, and costs that the city would incur applying.

Other topics discussed include but are not limited to:

• Threatening trees on Keys Avenue.

• Letter to supervisors concerning disposal of mats and other debris in Industrial Park

• Placing a gate on City Property

• Authority to advertise for a water line project to southwest Bay Springs

• Brian Yelverton’s request to reinstate electrical license

• Bids on street signs
