Nearly 200 people attended Tuesday, June 22’s Bay Springs Moving Forward Town Hall Meeting at Bay Springs City Hall. Those in attendance were treated to hots dogs and encouraged to offer their suggestions for improvements for Bay Springs. During the meeting, current president of the Bay Springs Chamber of Commerce Brian Ely presented former chamber president Linda Jones with a plaque of appreciation for her years of service to the town. Director of the Mississippi State Community Action Team Virgil Culver gave a presentation to the residents with suggestions of how to improve the town’s overall quality. He talked about architectural features, vacant buildings, green space development (like that of The Old Post Office Courtyard and Rose Garden), placement of garbage dumpsters, curb extensions, landmark buildings and community pride. See next week’s edition of the Jasper County News for a more indepth article on this meeting.
