JCJC broke open a tight game late in the first half and went on to whip the Co-Lin Community College Wolves, 108-79, here Thursday night at Bobcat Gym.
The victory ups JCJC’s record to 13-7 overall and 7-2 in the South Division. The Bobcats are tied with Pearl River for the top spot in the division. PRCC knocked off Gulf Coast, 68-58, on Thursday.
Co-Lin falls to 5-15 overall, 3-6 in division play.
In the women’s game, the unbeaten Lady Wolves showed why they are rated No. 4 in the nation. Co-Lin jumped out to an 18-5 lead just over seven minutes into the game and went on to post an 87-72 victory.
Co-Lin improved to 20-0 with the win, 9-0 in division play. JCJC fell to 15-5 overall, 6-3 in the league.
JCJC goes on the road on Monday to meet Southwest. The women’s game tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m.

Bobcats 108, Wolves 79
JCJC placed four players in double figures and 12 of the 13 Bobcats who played got into the scoring column.
Brandon Wilson, a 6-foot-5, second-team NJCAA Preseason All-American, had another solid game for Jones. The Rayville, La., sophomore forward scored 21 points, including a 9-of-10 effort from the floor, and also had a game-high eight rebounds.
Edmond, Okla., freshman guard Nic Combs had 14 points and a team-leading five assists, while Wayne County freshman Rico Rankins also had 14 points. Valdosta, Ga., sophomore Tyrone Brinson had 10 points and six rebounds. Pascagoula High School freshman Andrew Marshall came off the bench to pick up seven boards.
The game was back and forth for most of the first half.
JCJC went up 19-11 with 11:05 showing when Brinson scored on a goaltend call vs. Co-Lin. The Wolves came back and got within 28-26 with 5:28 left when Marcus Hooten drilled a 3-pointer.
However, Jones closed the half on a 23-10 run to take charge. After Hooten hit a trey to make it 40-33 with 2:29 left, Combs quickly answered with a 3-pointer with 2:14 showing to make it 43-33.
JCJC would lead 51-36 at halftime.
The Bobcats kept up the pressure in the first part of the second half. Torrey Brown’s basket put Jones ahead 72-51 with 11:46 left.
Co-Lin’s Michael Campbell scored with 10:18 left to make it 74-58, but that was as close as the Wolves would get. A Glen Collins’ 3-pointer capped an 8-0 run and put the Bobcats ahead 82-58 with 8:46 remaining.
Brinson’s putback gave Jones a 93-63 lead with 5:48 to play. JCJC’s longest lead came at 108-77 with 27.9 seconds left when Marshall scored.
Hooten, who entered the game as the state’ leading scorer and the nation’s 10th –best scorer at 22.9 points per game, did nothing to hurt his average. He ended the game with 30 points, despite making only 11-of-20 foul shots. Campbell added 23 and Anthony Evans had 13.
Lady Wolves 87, Lady Bobcats 72
A 33-point effort by freshman guard Tanecka Carey could not save the Lady Bobcats.
Latoria Holder’s basket with 12:57 left in the first half gave Co-Lin an 18-5 lead. But JCJC rallied and got within 21-17 with 8:35 left when Erica Moore hit a 15-footer.
However, the Lady Wolves then scored 14 straight points to take control. Rachel Vigers’ 15-footer put Co-Lin up 35-17 with 3:47 remaining.
The Lady Wolves led 39-24 at halftime.
Co-Lin continued to increase the lead in the early part of the second half.
A Holder bucket put the visitors ahead 52-32 with 15:39 left. Co-Lin’s largest lead came at 73-45 with 7:55 to play when Naketa Roberts made a 3-pointer.
But Jones would scrap back.
Carey’s 15-footer with 4:06 left ended a 15-4 run and pulled the Lady Bobcats to within 77-60. Jones would get as close as 13 points on three occasions, with the final time being at 85-72 with 38.4 seconds to go on a Carey 15-footer.
Carey, a 5-foot-9 point guard from Jackson Murrah, led Jones with 33 points, including a 5-of-16 night from 3-point range. Taylorsville sophomore forward Ashley Lee had 10 points and nine rebounds. Moore, a sophomore from Grove Hill, Ala., also scored 10 points.
Vigers and Brandie Simmons had 21 points each for Co-Lin, while Holder had 13 and Paige Webster added 11. Simmons also grabbed 10 rebounds.
