of Chunky, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 pm, Friday, August 7, 2009, at Providence Baptist Church with Reverends Jackie Strebeck, James McMillan and Jack Kern officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Butts was a heavy equipment operator for 39 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his four-wheeler and watching “grandkids” play sports. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Tommie Sue Butts, of Chunky; two daughters, Trajetta Coate and husband, Terry, of Chunky and Twyanna Gay McCloud and husband, Bradley Scott, of Chunky; four grandchildren, Reva Shea Coate, Travis M. Coate, Hannah Marie McCloud and Samuel Taylor McCloud; one sister, Senora Ann Embery and husband, J.V., of Hickory. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.V. Butts and Lillian Kilpatrick Butts; and one brother, Curtis Eldrew Butts.

Pallbearers were George Dean, Eugene Alexander, Steve Krase, David Alexander, Demp Parks, Josh Sanders, Aaron Cooley and Chris Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers were Samuel McCloud and Travis Coate.
